They work with wisdom keepers and local communities on concrete projects, guarding land, protecting water, air, soil, biodiversity & ancestral wisdom. The organization focuses on forest conservation, women’s empowerment, health, food security, and sustainable economic opportunities, working closely with local communities to ensure long-term independence and cultural preservation while raising awareness in Europe about Amazon challenges. Simon Benjamin Knoop Project Manager I am a conservation scientist working with Indigenous peoples in Brazil since 2016. I hold an M.Sc. in Primate Conservation (2018). I co-manage the NGO Living Gaia, supporting the Huni Kuin and helped establish a 16,000-hectare reserve. I focus on bridging Indigenous and non-Indigenous worlds to protect nature. Aibu Dayá Indigenous Women rights & nature conservation The women's association Aibu Dayá ("the work of women" in Hatxa kuin) is the first Indigenous organization run by women in the region of Jordão, Acre. Central aspects are education, equal rights, nature conservation, women's rights, medical care as well as general basic care. The association consists of women who work to improve the living conditions of their community. They organize trainings and workshops to help other women understand their rights and realize their full potential. They are also active in conservation and work to create a sustainable future for their community. Rita Sales Huni Kuin Artist & Spokesperson Huni Kuin Rita Huni Kuin comes from the village of Chico Curumim on the Rio Jordão and lives in the small town of Jordão. She is a visual artist and depicts traditional oral stories from her culture and her own visions in her art. Her works have been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo (MASP) and at Berlin Art Week, among others. Rita is one of the most important young representatives and spokespeople of the Huni Kuin. Together with her sister Yaká, she is co-founder of the Huni Kuin artists' group Kayatibú, which promotes the culture and spirituality of her people through art, and the Indigenous women's association Aibu Dayá. Meli Bees Network www.Meli-Bees.org Pollinating Regeneration Meli Bees Network is an Indigenous-led non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Indigenous Peoples and local communities in the Amazon and beyond to lead environmental regeneration and climate justice efforts. Inspired by the native Meliponini bees, Meli builds networks of trust, supports community-led agroforestry and regenerative projects, and promotes autonomy and territory stewardship. Through educational initiatives, traditional beekeeping, and international partnerships, Meli Bees helps protect biodiversity, strengthen community resilience, and amplify Indigenous voices for a just and thriving planet Ana Rosa de Lima Founder & Director Ana Rosa de Lima is an Indigenous Omágua leader from the Brazilian Amazon and the founder of the Meli Bees Network, a nonprofit supporting regenerative projects and climate justice in Indigenous and local communities. With a background in environmental science, Ana bridges traditional knowledge and global networks to promote native beekeeping, agroforestry, and territorial sovereignty. WISDOM RETREATS LEADERSHIP RETREATS WITH INDIGENOUS WISDOM KEEPERS We gather investors and other leaders in nature, close to the elements that make all life. With the objective to facilitate a deep encounter with nature, oneself and Indigenous Elders, like the Kogi from Columbia, the Saami and Inuit from the North of Scandinavia and Greenland, or the Huni Kuin and Lakota from the Americas. The Roadmap Concrete A ction for an Age of Wisdom The current focus is on fixing individual issues such as poverty, gender inequality, climate change, etc. All important problems - however, we believe that they will not be truly solved without a deep paradigm and culture shift within each of us ("inner transformation") and conscious action and collaboration for impact and redesign of our systems ("systemic change") - as it takes both, inner work as well as a critical mass of people coming together to challenge our current system design and implement alternatives that from their core foster the wellbeing of people and planet. WISDOM QUEST ON A QUEST FOR WISDOM The world we know is changing quicker than we can grasp it. Challenges everywhere. Ecological collapse. Economic turmoil. Mistrust, societal divide and instability. A widening disparity of wealth and power. Technologies transforming our lives, able to cause great harm - if in the wrong hands. It is hard to stay calm watching all this unfold at an unprecedented speed. The urge is to sprint into action and do something about it. And yes, concrete action is needed. However, not anything will do but the right moves need to be made - this is a strategically important time for the future of our species, and time as well as making steps into the right direction are of the essence. Identifying the root causes of the ailments is key, seeing very clear despite all fog and distractions and acting in unity will be decisive for the next era on this planet. This is a time to be wise. And an opportunity for us to shift into an Age of Wisdom in which we use the assets we have - our time, brain, technology and capital - wisely and in unity for the wellbeing of people and planet. With this, we’d truly live up to our potential as "Homo sapiens ”, wise beings. So what is wisdom? How do we acquire wisdom? What is a wise way to live, to think, to take decisions, to lead, to relate with each other and nature? We have decided to look for answers to these questions this year by visiting Elders from various Wisdom Traditions. As We believe that there is deep wisdom in what survived the trends and storms of time. Probably due to me starting most conversations with contemplations & questions around #wisdom. Why? Because I believe that wisdom is a quality that truly makes us "Homo sapiens" - wise beings, a quality worth putting a greater focus on - as it might be the one quality crucial for us to evolve as a species in a way that provides a beautiful quality of life for everyone and in harmony with our inner and outer #nature. I think it's time to evolve beyond knowledge - especially of interest in times of #ai, one of the top themes during the #wef23 week. So what is wisdom? Here is the synthesis of my thoughts and input I got from a diverse range of people - such as business people, AI experts, impact investors, biodiversity specialists, social entrepreneurs, and even a buddhist lama who was present (truly present, by the way) throughout the week. "Wisdom is clarity of mind in tune with one´s heart and aware of one's role and responsibility in life. It has several components: Knowledge, experience, insights taken from the prior two, followed by aligned, coherent decisions and actions. All based on an inner compass that takes into consideration one's own path and needs as well as those of others. It is an inner stillness that has an intricate knowing of our interconnectedness, and that allows a deep understanding of one's inner system as well as an ease to view life from an eagle´s and a system´s perspective" Wondering what your take is on this?
